Design Studies

There are many global installations which have heaters up to 10, 30 or 60 years old and still operational. These units which are often working under very different conditions from those they were originally designed for.

Providing BIH are issued with the key data, then BIH can provide design reviews on any equipment installed. BIH are able to review current operating conditions by undertaking process design study work which may differ from those to which the equipment was originally designed. This would result in a detailed report including recommendations and estimated pricing to allow our Clients to fully evaluate the Capex & Opex savings.

BIH provides complete life cycle support to our customers, and offers a range of solutions that are perfectly suited to our niche products, Fired Heaters and Waste Heat Recovery Units, ensuring the continued high performance of the equipment.

  • Process design simulations to look at optimisation models for your installed equipment. This is carried out by our highly experienced and respected in-house personnel.
  • Engineering studies to assess, understand, and develop optimisations models. This is usually a combination of site work and in-house interpretation and modelling.
  • Providing recommendations for replacements parts, upgrades, and retrofits. BIH offer cost effective innovative solutions to increase the capacity, and/or efficiency of an existing unit.
  • Budget pricing to establish the viability of solutions being offered, and provide the basis for a cost benefit analysis. Such as when considering the addition of a preheat system, installation of low NOx burners, a new convection section or SCR system.
  • Project management using bespoke in-house system, to ensure spares/solutions are delivered on time and on budget

BIH can offer a life cycle cost analysis as part of the studies. This calculation involves the cost of running a Fired Heater inefficiently compared/contrasted against the longer term savings (payback) over the course of say 12–24 months after BIH’s recommended solutions are implemented.

In addition to supervisory services, BIH are willing to visit during plant/equipment shutdowns to undertake turnaround inspections of equipment, whether it has been supplied by BIH or others. This may lead BIH to making recommendations for future maintenance and operational philosophy.
